In early August 2019, Ambassador Andrew L.Y. Hsia, chairman of the Association of Foreign Relations (AFR), led a delegation of experts and scholars from Taiwan to visit U.S. think tanks and meet with high-level U.S. government officials.
“According to AFR Chairman Andrew Hsia, the visit was a voluntary trip and the delegation did not represent any side of the pan-blue camp, Kuomintang (KMT) and its presidential candidate Han Kuo-yu. Hsia could not reveal whom they met and what they discussed, but they were received with enthusiasm in the U.S. Topics including cross-(Taiwan) Strait relations, Beijing’s attitude, fake news, KMT, and Han Kuo-yu were discussed.”
“We’ve met all the key individuals we hoped and expected to see in this visit,” Hsia said.
