When Ambassador Hu Weizhen first came to Germany as special representative, relations between our country and Germany were very difficult. In 2004, Mr. Ma Ying-jeou, then Mayor of Taipei, went to Germany to attend the annual meeting of the Society of International Law and wanted to visit the Mayor of Berlin because of his status as Mayor of Taipei. However, after a lot of effort and events, the two sides successfully met.
