本會前常務理事徐勉生大使投書聯合報【外交不能一廂情願】
對於邦交國動向，我們不能一廂情願，必須從邦交國的角度思考，設身處地想想他們為何要轉向？
舉例而言，索羅門國會大選結果，並無單一政黨掌握絕對多數席次，國會五十席議員中，最大黨只有八席，包括蘇嘉瓦瑞在內的無黨籍議員共有廿一席，於是由蘇嘉瓦瑞結合其他無黨籍議員及其他小黨，共組聯合政府。
如果有執政聯盟成員主張與中共建交，總理要如何應對？蘇嘉瓦瑞說必須和聯合政府盟友商討後才能下定論，表示必須顧及這些盟友的立場。
鞏固邦交並非全然操之在我，蔡總統把兩岸關係弄僵，中共展開外交攻勢，我們實難顧及索國執政聯盟全體成員，斷交恐怕只是時間問題。
