本會名譽會長蕭萬長先生代表我國參與APEC，根據新聞報導，蕭名譽會長在進入晚宴現場之後，不但與熟識的李顯龍等東南亞國家領袖熱絡談話，更把握機會和歐巴馬進行相當長時間的交談，一旁就是日本首相安倍。另外也與香港特首梁振英短暫交談。
新聞內文也提到，蕭名譽會長在出席APEC工商諮詢理事會時，便坐在美國旁邊，據信也利用此一難得機會，與美方提及台灣對美投資，以及台灣爭取加入TPP等議題。
Honorary President of this Association Mr. Yao Wanchang represented our country in the APEC. According to news reports, after entering the dinner, Honorary President Wu not only had a warm conversation with leaders of Southeast Asian countries such as Lee Hsien Loong, but also took the opportunity to have a long conversation with Obama, along with Japanese Prime Minister Abe. I also had a short conversation with Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chunying.
The news text also mentioned that Honorary President Wu sat next to the United States while attending the APEC Business Advisory Council, and is believed to have taken advantage of this rare opportunity to mention Taiwan's investment in the United States and Taiwan's bid to join the TPP.
