（中央社記者侯姿瑩台北26日電）馬來西亞前首相馬哈迪應邀來台訪問，他今天以「民族建構與經濟發展：馬來西亞經驗」為題，發表專題演講，並讚美台馬雙邊關係。
馬哈迪（Mahathir bin Mohamad）說，馬國積極爭取外國投資者到當地投資，以促成經濟成長。他表示，目前已有許多台灣企業到馬來西亞投資，包括太陽能與其它高科技產業，在馬國的外國投資中占了很重要的一部分。
談到雙邊關係，他說，「我們相信台灣跟馬來西亞之間的關係會越來越好。」他認為，這樣持續增進的關係，有助於馬來西亞的經濟發展。
馬哈迪這次是以馬來西亞卓越領導基金會榮譽主席的身分，應社團法人對外關係協會邀請來台訪問，並進行專題演講。
(Central News Agency Reporter Hou Zixin Taipei 26th) Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir was invited to visit Taiwan. He delivered a keynote speech today on the theme of "National Construction and Economic Development: The Malaysian Experience" and praised the bilateral relationship between Taiwan and Malaysia.
Mahathir bin Mohamad, the country's chief executive, said Malaysia is actively enlisting foreign investors to invest in the region to boost economic growth. He said that many Taiwanese companies are investing in Malaysia, including solar energy and other high-tech industries, which make up a significant part of foreign investment in Malaysia.
Speaking of bilateral relations, he said, “We believe that the relationship between Taiwan and Malaysia will get better and better.” He believes that such a growing relationship will help Malaysia's economic development.
Mahathir, in his capacity as Honorary Chairman of Malaysia Excellence Leadership Foundation, visited Taiwan at the invitation of the Society for Foreign Relations, and gave a keynote speech.
